I made the request for a simple wooden multi-purpose puppet show/toll booth thingy (I have fabulous memories playing toll both with some saw horses and a hole punch!). Dad took this one seriously!
Just to make it clear -- my creative soul of a husband doesn't listen to all of my requests this seriously (you know...the selective hearing thing!).
Life is good when you are married to creative soul.....
Though the kids think that Dad isn't nearly as creative as Mom --
they are SO mistaken. Some day they will figure out the truth!
Dad just doesn't like messes as much as Mom, but is far better at ART and DESIGN!
This is a picture of our entirely recycled old sidewalk that was cut
up into slabs and moved out several feet to accommodate a bigger plant bed and to look like something that was designed in the 2000s!
While living in Germany, you couldn't go to any street fest without a few festive flags.
The Dutch had amazing designs for their flags. Personally, I could have iterations of these flags all over our house...every room!
Here in Toddler-Ville, we kept things simple.
Strips of torn muslin, fleece rectangles stapled and tool tied in a knot.
Canvases Rock. Yes, I know it is complete overkill for a toddler -- but for a Mommy, it is a delightful splurge. We have one of Kansas City's best art stores within a couple of miles (Cold Snow Creative) and their sales rock! CKC's painting on the right ended up in our hall bathroom. He spent 45 minutes on the masterpiece and it makes me smile every time I see it. Despite me not wanting to admit that I have two boys that are bound to end up finding some sort of violence fascinating -- he made sure to tell me that the flames on the rocket were killing the droids.
Thank You Star Wars!
CKC decided that he wanted our hallway to resemble that of a motel -- about 6 or so months ago. The kids painted some simple 'motel' numbers on butcher paper at the time and we had them up on the doors ever since. Last weekend we decided to upgrade the room numbers with some wooden $.49-ers! The kids had a great time decorating these and in case you were wondering...our motel room numbers are significant (our ages!!). The classic is the bathroom is Room 8. CKC told me this with amazing certainty...like Mom, didn't you know that all bathrooms are Room 8!
