Back in the 1960s, kids didn't have the shoes, books, bags and trinkets that we have today (well, our kids anyway). Dad built these lockers for the three kids in place of some ill-designed and under-utilized older shelves.
Each kid has their own little space for their treasures and as you can see from the two pictures...they are being filled up. When in doubt, put it in your locker!
This is a classic, yet disturbing picture of the inside of our mini-van...a.k.a. the official farm vehicle! We haul all sorts of things we shouldn't be hauling in a van we intend to drive for 10 more years...and some of them literally sit right next to you while driving.
Yeah....so I wouldn't suggest this project!

This recipe will make you some nifty handmade party favors! Not something I would be eager to do again but created a lot of laughter and a vow to Sister Bina that I won't let her take on such a project for her favorite little people some day!
These were so darn fun.
The kids did most of the work in between running in the sprinklers and snacking like crazy. Some of these paintings changed pretty radically with the help of a two year old and a big fat foam brush...but they all turned out! In between ADHD sessions, I did a little stamping and modge-podging and a little detailing.
I made the request for a simple wooden multi-purpose puppet show/toll booth thingy (I have fabulous memories playing toll both with some saw horses and a hole punch!). Dad took this one seriously!
Just to make it clear -- my creative soul of a husband doesn't listen to all of my requests this seriously (you know...the selective hearing thing!).
Life is good when you are married to creative soul.....
Though the kids think that Dad isn't nearly as creative as Mom --
they are SO mistaken. Some day they will figure out the truth!
Dad just doesn't like messes as much as Mom, but is far better at ART and DESIGN!
This is a picture of our entirely recycled old sidewalk that was cut
up into slabs and moved out several feet to accommodate a bigger plant bed and to look like something that was designed in the 2000s!
There is something about old fashioned entertainment. Shadows are free.
